Data below are for the 24-hour period ending midnight
=========================================================

Apr 30 - Clearing overnight; clear, calm and cold at daybreak with a few patches of frost. Mostly sunny and pleasant through mid afternoon with increasing clouds late in the day through the evening.

Apr 29 - Cloudy, windy and chilly with a few sprinkles in the morning and a brief period of light rain in early afternoon.

Apr 28 - Thunderstorms and heavy rain overnight, tapering off at daybreak.  Cloudy, breezy and cool with a few trivial sprinkles during the morning and temps holding plus or minus of 50 all afternoon; gradual clearing in late afternoon and evening. The 10+ inches of precip this month far exceeds Canaan Valley's wettest April in its 67 years of weather records: 7.21 inches in 1966.

Apr 27 - Partly sunny and warm through mid day then clouding over during the afternoon.  Showers and thunderstorms commenced in late evening.

Apr 26 - Partly sunny and warm with a thunderstorm in early evening.

Apr 25 - Partly sunny and very warm; thunder heard in early evening as storms passed to the south but no rain here.

Apr 24 - Another round of showers before daybreak and periodically during the day; a brief thundershower during the evening.  Canaan Mountain is oozing water through every pore and in some places it's gushing.

Apr 23 - Showers and thundershowers continuing overnight and in the forenoon; partly sunny and warmer through mid afternoon, then clouds returning with a heavy thunderstorm during the evening.

Apr 22 - Becoming cloudy overnight with light rain commencing shortly after daybreak, continuing off and on all day. Report atop Cabin Mountain above 3800 ft. that surfaces were icy in the early morning.  Thunder added to the mix during the evening.

Apr 21 - Mostly sunny and cool.

Apr 20 - Cloudy and mild at daybreak

Apr 19 - Mild with a few sprinkles shortly after daybreak, then a six-hour spell of training thunderstorms commenced with one near cloudburst after another, quickly pushing local streams to bankfull.  It all ended by mid afternoon and no rain fell for the remainder of the day.

Apr 18 - Diminishing winds overnight; Partly sunny and pleasant through early afternoon then clouding over for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Apr 17 - Windy and colder with intermittent light snow overnight, then partly sunny from mid morning through the afternoon.  Strong winds all day brought down a few trees in the local community including at least one report of lines down.  Bruce Dalton in Timberline reported a late afternoon gust to 47 mph.

Apr 16 - Intermittent light rain from daybreak to early afternoon, then periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon; very windy with falling temps during the evening with rain showers changing to snow before midnight.

Apr 15 - Mostly sunny and pleasant through mid afternoon then increasing high clouds during the evening.

Apr 14 - Sunny and pleasant.

Apr 13 - Dense fog, drizzle and cold all day.

Apr 12 - Rain overnight then periods of rain and drizzle and sharply colder all day as temps slowly fell through the 40s.

Apr 11 - Partly sunny, windy and very warm then becoming cloudy late afternoon through the evening with a few sprinkles during the evening.

Apr 10 - Considerable sunshine and very warm.

Apr 09 - Mostly cloudy and pleasant.

Apr 08 - Becoming cloudy overnight with a few sprinkles at daybreak then fog, drizzle and cooler all day with periods of showers through the morning, ending mid afternoon.

Apr 07 - Partly sunny and pleasant. The last patches of snow in the woods disappeared today.

Apr 06 - Mostly sunny and milder; windy in the afternoon.

Apr 05 - Falling temps and periods of rain overnight with rain changing to snow at daybreak and continuing through late morning, moderate to heavy on a few occasions.  Snow tapered to a few snowshowers during the afternoon, ending in the evening. Today was a remarkable reversal from yesterday's summerlike conditions.

Apr 04 - Temps rose through the 40s into the mid 50s overnight then soaring into the low 70s in the afternoon under partly sunny skies; strong winds and high temperatures rapidly reduced the half foot of snow on the ground in the morning to almost nothing by evening. An approaching cold front kicked off several periods of thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening with a peak wind gust of 51 mph reported by Bruce Dalton in Timberline.

Apr 03 - Clearing overnight then sunny and milder through early afternoon. Clouds moved in during the afternoon with a brief thunderstorm in early evening along with a quick fall of snow and small hail marking the approach of a warm front.

Apr 02 - Snow commenced again at 3AM with a heavy snow squall with thunder before daybreak, diminishing to a steady light snow during the morning.  Moderate to often heavy snow commenced late morning and continued through mid afternoon, gradually diminishing to mostly light and moderate snow by early evening, then light snow through the evening.  Heavy snow squalls during the day often dropped visibility to near zero.  Thunder was heard several times, including once during the evening when the event was winding down.  One of the most interesting weather days in the nearly ten years that daily obs have been taken here, particularly in view of the fact that the NWS forecast never mentioned the possibility of it, even during the height of the storm.

Apr 01 - Light snow continuing through the morning and early afternoon, ending mid afternoon.
