Apr 30 - Cloudy and cool at sunrise
Apr 29 - Showers overnight and several times during the day...and blessedly much cooler.
Apr 28 - Partly sunny and very warm; becoming cloudy late afternoon with a few sprinkles in late evening.  Serviceberry burst into bloom today.
Apr 27 - Mostly sunny and hot. Today's max temp of 84 is the highest ever recorded here in April and is just one degree short of Canaan Valley's all time (1944-2008) April high of 85 set in 1952.
Apr 26 - Mostly sunny and hot.
Apr 25 - Morning clouds, then mostly sunny and hot.  Today is only second time in past 11 years at this location with a temp of 80 or higher in April.
Apr 24 - A few clouds in the morning with a several raindrops at mid morning, then mostly sunny and much warmer; warmest day so far this year.
Apr 23 - Snow ending by daybreak, quickly becoming sunny and much warmer through the afternoon.  All snowcover gone by nightfall.
Apr 22 - Clouding over again during the night with light snow commencing shortly after sunrise and continuing all day, varying from very light to heavy with intervals of no snow and some brief sunshine that nearly melted any significant accumulation.  After sunset, snow began to accumulate.
Apr 21 - Partly sunny through mid afternoon, then a thunderstorm at 4PM with pea hail and brief heavy snow; becoming mostly clear again during the evening.
Apr 20 - Periods of rain overnight, ending mid morning and becoming partly sunny through mid afternoon, then several more showers in late afternoon.
Apr 19 - Cloudy and mild with a frew sprinkles in the afternoon, then steady rain commenced at mid evening.

Feb 24 - Sunny, no wind, and sharply milder in the afternoon.  A pristine winter day.
Feb 23 - Snow overnight, diminishing to intermittant light snow all day, finally ending during the evening.
Feb 22 - Light snow beginning at 2AM and continuing all day and evening; a few periods of sun during several brief breaks in the afternoon, then falling more heavily during the evening.  Some blowing and drifting snow.
Feb 21 - Clearing with diminishing winds overnight, then a beautiful, sunny, winter day.  Route 32 busy with cars filled with skiers.  Becoming cloudy during the evening.
Feb 20 - Windy with light snow and blowing snow ending mid day then becoming partly sunny and quite cold through the afternoon.
Feb 19 - Turning colder with rain changing to snow at 2AM and continuing through the day and evening; imbedded heavy snow squalls during the morning, gave way alternating snow and periods of blue sky in the afternoon, then a steady snow most of the evening.  Falling temps and strong winds all day produced blowing and drifting snow.
Feb 18 - Light snow after midnight, then freezing rain for a few hours, changing to periods of rain all day; brief, light thunderstorm in the evening.
Feb 17 - A beautiful winter day -- sunny, no wind, highs in the 30s.

Feb 14 - Fair and pleasant in the morning, then windy with falling temps in the afternoon with periods of light snow through the evening.
Feb 13 - A brief snow flurry mid morning then partly sunny, windy, and cold.
Feb 12 - Very windy and much colder overnight; Bruce Dalton in Timberline recorded a 48 mph wind gust at 12:01AM.  Very light intermittant snow beginning at daybreak. ending late morning; partly sunny and very windy through the afternoon.
Feb 11 - Mostly sunny and unusually warm; becoming cloudy and windy at nightfall with a brief, heavy rainshower and a few rumbles of thunder at mid evening.  Bruce Dalton in Timberline recorded a 47 mph wind gust at 7:43PM.
Feb 10 - Cloudy and mild with periods of light rain beginning mid day and continuing through the evening; snowcover is down to patches in open areas but remains nearly solid beneath forested areas on Canaan Mountain.
Feb 09 - Mostly sunny and warm through mid afternoon, then clouding over for the remainder of the day.
Feb 08 - Windy and becoming cloudy overnight with rain beginning before daybreak, ending by mid morning and becoming mostly sunny and pleasant through the afternoon.
Feb 07 - Cloudy and mild early, then partly sunny, breezy and much warmer in the afternoon.  Snowcover is on the run.
Feb 06 - Sunny and much warmer.
Feb 05 - Light snow ending mid morning then mostly sunny and cold through the afternoon.  After a daytime max temp of 9, the temperature fell back to 1 during the evening before starting to slowly rise.
Feb 04 - Light snow overnight, through the day and evening with several brief periods of heavy snow; very cold.
Feb 03 - Light snow during the morning with several brief heavy squalls, then partly sunny through the afternoon; a very light, fine snow resumed in the evening.
Feb 02 - Fair skies at daybreak, then quickly clouding over with light snow commencing late morning and continuing through mid afternoon, ending in the evening.
Feb 01 - Sunny and much warmer.

Jan 31 - Snow ending in the morning becoming mostly sunny and cold.
Jan 30 - Light snow all day.
Jan 29 - Cloudy, calm, and cold at daybreak; trees have a spectacular frosted coating
Jan 28 - Freezing rain changing to rain after midnight, ending by daybreak; cloudy, breezy and warm all morning.  Rain commenced around mid day and temps began falling, changing to snow in early afternoon, tapering off and ending early evening.
Jan 27 - Light snow began before daybreak, continuing through late afternoon, changing to freezing rain in the evening.
Jan 26 - Intermittant very light all day, coming to less than a quarter inch by evening.
Jan 25 - Clearing skies during the night then mostly sunny through early afternoon; increasing clouds late afternoon with intermittant very light snow beginning early evening.
Jan 24 - Windy and much colder overnight with snow beginning in the morning, diminishing in the afternoon, ending during the evening;  temps slowly falling through the teens all day.
Jan 23 - A spring-like day; mostly sunny and warm.
Jan 22 - Fair skies and slowly rising temps overnight, then mostly sunny and much warmer in the afternoon.  A beautiful winter day.
Jan 21 - Light snow continuing all night, ending mid morning and quickly becoming sunny for the remainder of the day.
Jan 20 - Light snow and quite cold all day.
Jan 19 - Light snow all day with periods of moderate and heavy snow, and even a few patches of blue now and then.  Conditions are perfect at local skiing venues, packed with visitors this long MLK Birthday weekend.
Jan 18 - Occasional light snow overnight, mixed with some freezing rain, then light snow continued all and evening with slowly falling temps.

Jan 16 - Very light snow ended before daybreak, then clearing and sunny all day.  Both the morning low and afternoon high temperatures are the lowest such values recorded here since observations commenced in 1998.
Jan 15 - Light to moderate snow all night and much colder; snow tapered to very light by mid morning with periods of sunshine through mid afternoon. Light snow resumed late afternoon and continued through the evening. Season snowfall total passed 100 inches today; equivalent dates in recent years were 2/6/06, 2/15/07, 2/14/08
Jan 14 - Wind and snow diminishing overnight; cloudy and cold all day with steady snow commencing again at dusk and continuing all evening.
Jan 13 - Cloudy with intermittant light snow beginning mid day, becoming steady from mid afternoon through the evening; windy with temps falling from the high 20s at sunset to single digits at midnight.
Jan 12 - A steady light snow began shortly after midnight and continued through daybreak, ending mid morning; cloudy and cold remainder of the day.
Jan 11 - Rain ending and turning sharply colder overnight; a very fine light snow commenced before daybreak and continued all day, amounting to less than a quarter inch.  Temp fell into the teens by mid day and remained there rest of the day.
Jan 10 - Cloudy overnight with temps rising into the mid 30s; rain commenced before noon and fell heavily all afternoon, ending in the evening.
Jan 09 - Snow diminished overnight and ended mid morning; becoming mostly sunny until clouds returned in late afternoon.  Temps remained in the teens all day, rising into the 20s during the evening.
Jan 08 - Light to sometimes moderate snow overnight, becoming light mid morning through mid afternoon, then heavier again in the evening; windy with slowly falling temps all day; some blowing and drifting snow.
Jan 07 - Moderate to sometimes heavy rain continuing overnight producing a 24-hour total of 1.68 inches, the greatest such amount in January since precip records commenced here in 2001.  Using Canaan Valley's 64 years of weather records, it is the second greatest January 24-hour precip total since 1945. Rain diminished and changed to snow at mid day and continued lightly for the remainder of the day.  Falling temps and increasing winds late afternoon and evening.
Jan 06 - Slowly rising temps overnight with periods of intermittant light rain through mid afternoon, then the rain began with a vengeance, pouring down the rest of the day and evening.
Jan 05 - Rain ending before daybreak then cloudy and temps falling into the 20s for the rest of the day.  A brief period of very light freezing drizzle in the afternoon.
Jan 04 - Increasing clouds and warmer overnight with dense fog at daybreak;  cloudy and mild all day with rain commencing in late afternoon.
Jan 03 - Mostly sunny and cold but no wind.  A nice winter day.
Jan 02 - Cloudy and cold with a period of light snow in the early morning and again in the evening.
Jan 01 - Mostly sunny with temp rising from +1 at 8AM to mid 20s in the afternoon and holding steady through the evening.

Dec 31 - Becoming cloudy, windy and turning colder overnight with a few snow flurries before daybreak, then snow, very windy and falling temps all day with a few periods of heavy snow then diminishing in late afternoon and evening.  A remarkable change from the previous two days
Dec 30 - Another sunny and cool day.
Dec 29 - Sunny and cool; becoming windy and turning colder in the evening.
Dec 28 - Breezy and warm at sunrise then about two hours of rain at mid morning followed by clearing, very windy and slowing falling temps during the afternoon.
Dec 27 - Partly sunny and unusually warm; warmest day in past seven weeks.
Dec 26 - Partly sunny in the morning, cloudy and milder in the afternoon with a period of showers in the evening.
Dec 25 - Light winds, partly sunny and cool; a nice Christmas day.
Dec 24 - Rain in the morning, ending before noon, breezy and warm through the afternoon, then rain again in the late afternoon, ending in the evening; windy and turning colder in the evening.
Dec 23 - Increasing clouds overnight then cloudy and warmer during the day; temperture rose from zero at midnight to low 30s by late evening.
Dec 22 - Windy and very cold with snow showers beginning after midnight, ending after daybreak; a very fine and very light snow fell through the morning, ending in the afternoon and becoming mostly sunny.  Temps only rose above zero in late morning, crept up to +5F by mid afternoon, dropping back to zero during the evening as winds diminished.
Dec 21 - Several snow showers after daybreak, then becoming partly sunny and very windy with temperatures falling into the teens by late afternoon and down to zero at midnight.
Dec 20 - Cloudy and foggy with intermittant very light drizzle/freezing drizzle all day.
Dec 19 - Cloudy with rising temps overnight, then rain most of the day, sometimes heavy, ending by late afternoon.  Slowly falling temps in the evening.
Dec 18 - Cloudy and cool all day with a period of light drizzle in late afternoon and evening.
Dec 17 - Rain ended after midnight and becoming windy as the temperature zoomed up to 50 by daybreak, gobbling up the last of snow and ice on the ground.  A period of rain in the morning then slowly falling temps rest of the day.
Dec 16 - Freezing rain changed to sleet after midnight, then to intermittant light snow and sleet during the morning, changing to freezing rain in the afternon; temp rose above 32 in the evening as rain continued pouring down.
Dec 15 - Breezy and warm with a few rain showers before daybreak and again in the afternoon; temps quickly fell to low 30s in the evening, changing the rain to freezing rain.
Dec 14 - Mostly cloudy, breezy and mild.  Snowcover is disappearing quickly.
Dec 13 - Light snow overnight, gradually diminishing and ending after sunrise and becoming sunny by mid morning.
Dec 12 - Falling temps changed light freezing rain to a very wet snow shortly after midnight, becoming a fine, light snow after daybreak and continuing all day and evening. Temps slowly fell through the teens during the afternoon.
Dec 11 - Continued mild with rain resuming during the night, continuing and becoming heavy through the afternoon, then tapering to light and intermittant during the evening. Temps held in the high 30s all day, falling to the 31 to 33 range during the evening, causing some of the light rain to freeze on surfaces.
Dec 10 - Snowcover melting rapidly under assault from a warm rain overnight; cloudy and warm all day with temps holding in the mid 40s.
Dec 09 - Becoming cloudy again overnight with slowing rising temps, then cloudy and mild through the day with light rain commencing after nightfall.
Dec 08 - Increasing clouds with slowly rising temps before daybreak; cloudy through the day with a brief period of light snow at mid afternoon.  Clearing during the evening.
Dec 07 - Windy with light snow and occasional blowing snow overnight, tapering to a few flurries in the morning, then ending; becoming mostly sunny but still quite cold through the afternoon.
Dec 06 - Increasing cloudiness overnight with light snow beginning mid day and continuing through the afternoon and evening.
